In celebration of the Chinese zodiac’s Year of the Pig 2019, award-winning baby brand, Mountain Buggy, has launched its fourth limited edition print.
Chief Executive, Campbell Gower, said shadow play is about keeping traditions alive, and showcases a literal play with light through the millennia-old Chinese art form of paper cutting.
“Manipulating an original papercut that was sent to our team from an elder within the Yangzhou province, our in-house textiles designer played with light to form a simple yet alluring print in shades authentic to true shadows.
"With graphics highlighting the pig’s good fortune and intelligence - shadowed by intricate floral stencils - the result is a layered and textural effect that can be seen through the gradients of greys and blacks in the print.”
Mountain Buggy’s limited edition ‘Year of’ prints were first introduced in 2016, and have since become a rich part of the brand’s DNA.
He said the series of prints weave together creative expression, cultural diversity and individuality, illustrating the Kiwi brand’s strong ties with the People’s Republic of China.
The Year of the Pig celebrates the twelfth animal sign within the Chinese zodiac. It’s the brand’s fourth print in the series, with the popular Year of the Dog, Rooster and Monkey prints all preceding this latest edition.
“shadow play offers customers the best of both worlds,” Gower said. “Buggies delivering superior form, function and design, combined with a creative, iconic style. That’s what sets Mountain Buggy apart.
“It’s just terrific to be doing it, still from New Zealand, 24 years on and in 40+ countries.”
The new limited edition print is available on the Red Dot Award winning nano travel buggy, and can be selected when purchasing both online and in-store.
